Turner – Climax border crossing

Turner – Climax border crossing

The Turner – Climax border crossing is a remote port of entry that has an average of 30 to 40 vehicles passing through each day. It is also one of only six ports along the US-Canada border that have joint facilities, housing both US and Canadian customs officials. The building is split right down the middle, and the inspection lanes are located on either side of the building. The nearest communities to this crossing are Turner, Montana and Climax, Saskatchewan.
The Canadian port of entry was first located within Climax back in 1927. The border station was moved to the boundary line in 1936. It was in 1992 that the joint facility was completed. The primary purpose of sharing a building was to ensure the safety of the customs officials manning this port since the port is usually only staffed by one officer for each agency.
