                            Geary County District Court serves the public as the local trial court of general jurisdiction. The Clerk's Office accepts case filings, maintains records and dockets, issues summons/subpoenas, processes payments, restitution, and bonds, and provides copies and certifications. Case types include criminal (felony/misdemeanor), traffic, civil and small claims, domestic relations (divorce, custody, child support), juvenile matters, probate/estates, guardianship/conservatorship, adoption, and appeals from municipal court. The court receives petitions for and issues protective orders (Protection From Abuse and Protection From Stalking/Sexual Assault). Jury services include juror qualification, summons, orientation, scheduling, and compensation. The court schedules and conducts hearings, arraignments, motion hearings, trials (bench and jury), and sentencings.
