On May 6, 1995 Collin County Citizens approved a bond for 5 million dollars to build a 100 bed Juvenile Detention center. We broke ground on April 14, 1997. The delay was caused by an increase in construction costs. The project when completed cost approximately 7 million dollars. Construction began on May 12, 1997. The Ribbon Cutting was held on November 20, 1998. We occupied the building opening 48 beds on February 6, 1999. We opened 24 Post Adjudication Long Term beds on June 1, 2001.
