Shutter Creek Correctional Institution is a minimum security prison that houses inmates who are within four years of their release. The current capacity of Shutter Creek Correctional Institution is 260 inmates. Offenders are offered programs that include anger management, life skills, Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, cognitive restructuring and various other programs aimed at altering an inmate's behavior. Shutter Creek Correctional Institution provides inmates with work opportunities both within the institution and off of prison grounds. On site jobs include maintaining the prison grounds, working in laundry, in the kitchen preparing and serving meals, and in the warehouse. Many of the inmate's at this facility have been transferred from another prison to Shutter Creek Correctional Institution because they are nearing the end of their sentence and will be re-entering in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Lane, Jackson, or Josephine County.
