The Grand Forks County Juvenile Detention Center (GFCJDC) has been operating since January 1, 1978 and, effective March 15, 1991, the Center opened as a Class 1 Secure Detention facility; operating with separate Administration, budget and staff. The Center is located at 125 South 5th Street, Grand Forks, N.D. The Center holds only delinquent youth under the age of 18. Our Class 1 rating allows us to hold a juvenile in custodial care for a period of up to 1 year. The GFJDC presently employs 10 full-time Correctional Officers and 12 part-time Correctional Officers. We are a 24/7 facility with 14 beds (maximum of 25 beds) operating every day, staffed accordingly with essential employees. Our staffing ratio consists of teams with one female and one male and, at busy times, more Correctional Officers are staffed.
