Burlington, KY Boone County KY Work Camp View
After nine years in the planning, the Boone County Jail Workcamp opened in January 1998. Seventy-six inmates can be housed at the facility. Inmate labor was used on virtually all phases of the operation. The workcamps curriculum is built around discipline, teamwork and self-improvement. The camp is operated on the military model and all inmates are required to stand inspection, participate in drills and physical training. Any inmate who fails to meet the standards is immediately returned to the main jail. All inmates are required to work at community service or paying jobs at least eight hours per day. Hopefully the workcamp experience will help them become productive members of society upon release.
