Kankakee, IL County Detention Center View
The new facility, the Jerome Combs Detention Center, is designed to hold 312 inmates. In 2007, Phase 2 of JCDC was officially opened with the capability of holding 144 additional detainees. Both phases were designed to be direct supervision of detainees. Our old jail facility, the Kankakee County Detention Center, was designed for 106 inmates, but in 1994 was double-bunked which increased the capacity to 220. In 2003 a work release dorm was completed and the capacity increased again to 244. The average daily census as of February 2013 for both the old and new jail was 696 inmates..
