Mobile Community Based Facility and Community Work Center opened in May 1978 and is located at 2423 North Beltline Highway in Mobile. The facility houses and provides employment for Minimum-Community and Minimum-Out custody inmates. The majority of the facility’s inmates are Minimum-Community custody and hold positions for private sector employers throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties. Minimum-Out custody inmates assigned to the facility perform community work projects with local state, county, and city agencies. With a robust industrial capacity, the area provides a great foundation for advancement to inmates that have participated in Trade-school and ATEF programs. Funds earned by inmate-employees are deducted restitutions and other court ordered payments and is an important element of payment to victims and dependent children. While earning competitive wages, inmates at the facility can also participate in Aftercare, NA/AA, and GED classes. An intensive SAP program is also available for inmates that require substance abuse treatment. The Mobile Community Work Center is classified as a minimum custody facility.
