Cherokee County Jail

Cherokee county was born in January 1836 and was named for the American Indians who resided there. Cherokee Chief Pathkiller, lived in what is now the county seat in Centre. It wasn’t until 2011 that Centre, which is centrally located, began to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages. Until that time, it was a dry city.
