The Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center serves law enforcement and the juvenile justice system within 26 rural southern Illinois counties. The Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center provides a safe, secure and caring environment that guides the youth in our care toward productive, lawful lives and enhances community safety and well being. Caring, competent and compassionate staff provide a wide range of helpful services which support the youth's physical, emotional and social development. These services minimally include: education, recreation, counseling, nutrition, medical and health care services, reading, visitation, communication and continuous supervision. The building provides 38 beds within a 20,000 square foot facility, including detention and staff secured areas. Each juvenile who is served by this center is provided individualized developmental services, resulting in the youth leaving the center in a better physical, mental, emotional, academic, and social condition, than at arrival. It is not a warehouse, but a resource for the youth who are incarcerated where every effort is made to redirect their lives to become productive, honest, hardworking citizens. At the same time it protects our communities by incarcerating serious offenders.
