The Choctaw County Jail is closed until further notice due to safety concerns. The decision was made Wednesday, July 17th, by Sheriff Scott Lolley, after an inspection by the Alabama Fire Marshall’s Office. The Choctaw County Commission has decided that the jails structure will be inspected by a certified structural engineer. After this inspection, the Choctaw County Commission must make a decision on the future of the Choctaw County Jail. The decision will ultimately be to either repair the current jail built in 1964 or to build a new jail.
