Racine County
Racine County is located in southeastern Wisconsin. It was created out of the old Milwaukee County in December 1836 and has a population of over 197,000, making it Wisconsin's fifth largest county by population. The county seat is the City of Racine.
The trial court system in Racine County consists of municipal courts and circuit courts. Most ordinance violations are heard exclusively at the municipal courts. Other case types heard by the municipal court include traffic violations, non-jury trials for first offense drunk driving, and some juvenile cases. Jury trials are not offered in these courts as cases with jury trial requests are transferred to circuit courts.
