Wharton County

Wharton County, founded in 1846, is located in southeastern Texas and covers a land area of 1,086 square miles. The county was named in honor of the Wharton brothers, William and John Wharton, who were prominent Texian statesmen during the Texas Revolution. Its population is 41,614, with the City of Wharton serving as its county seat.

Wharton County has four trial courts: the District Court, the County Court, the Justice Courts, and the Municipal Courts. The 23rd District Court and 329th District Court are general jurisdiction courts in Wharton County.
