These courts also preside over legal separations, will disputes, juvenile offenses, guardianships, and other family law cases. Misdemeanors and civil actions for $100,000 or less are within the jurisdiction of the County Court in Jasper County. The County Court can also decide legal matters related to workers' compensations, protective orders, and appeals from lower trial courts. The Municipal Courts in major cities like Jasper and Kirbyville handle traffic offenses and other ordinance violations in their cities.
