Parking: | Parking is available in the parking lot located directly behind the Courthouse. Several 1-hour parking meters are available in the lot as well as unmetered spots. Jury parking is available in the parking lot across the street from the Schuylkill County prison (located across the street from the back of the Courthouse). When jurors will be present, the metered parking spots on the street behind the Courthouse are covered and also available for juror parking. |
Directions: | The Schuylkill County Courthouse is located at 401 North Second Street in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. PARoute 61 provides easy access from the north and south while PA Route 209 provides easy access from the east and west.From the North:* Follow PA 61 South past St. Clair.* After passing the Fairlane Village Mall on the right, continue on to the next traffic light.* Make a right at the traffic light onto Nichols Street.* Continue on Nichols Street until you arrive at a T in the road. Make a left on to North Centre Street.* Continue on North Centre Street until the next traffic light. Make a right at that traffic light onto Laurel Boulevard.* Continue one block to a 4-way stop sign. Make a right at the stop sign on to North Second Street.* Continue a short distance to the top of the hill. The Courthouse building will be located on your left as you are driving up the small hill. You can enter the parking lot by making a left turn into the lot at the intersection at the top of the hill.From the South:* Follow PA 61 North into Pottsville to the traffic light at Norwegian Street.* Make a left onto Norwegian Street and continue on to the first traffic light.* Make a right at the traffic light onto Centre Street.* Continue to the next traffic light and make a left onto Market St.* Make a right at the next intersection onto North Second Street .* Continue to the third stop sign where you will be facing the Courthouse building.* Go straight at this stop sign and proceed up the hill along side the Courthouse. You will be able to make a left into the parking lot from the top of the hill.From the East:* Follow PA 209 West into Pottsville.* Continue on PA 209 West to the intersection of Centre Street.* Make a right onto Centre Street.* Continue to the next traffic light and make a left onto Market St.* Make a right at the next intersection onto North Second Street.* Continue to the third stop sign where you will be facing the Courthouse building.* Go straight at this stop sign and proceed up the hill along side the Courthouse. You will be able to make a left into the parking lot from the top of the hill.From the West:* Follow PA 209 East into Pottsville.* Continue on PA 209 East (Market Street) to the intersection of North Second Street.* Make a left onto North Second Street.* Continue to the third stop sign where you will be facing the Courthouse building.* Go straight at this stop sign and proceed up the hill along side the Courthouse. You will be able to make a left into the parking lot from the top of the hill.All visitors to the Courthouse and the general public must enter the building through the security entrance. This entrance is located at the back of the building and is accessible from the parking lot. All other entrances are secured and accessible only by County employees and other individuals having building passes. |
