Osage County
Osage County was founded in 1907 and named after the Osage Nation. With a land area of 2,246.61 square miles, the county is considered the largest in Oklahoma. It is also home to over 45,000 residents.
The trial court system in Osage County comprises a District Court and numerous municipal courts. The district court has general jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases, including felonies, annulments, divorces, paternity, child custody and support, guardianships, adoptions, and juvenile matters. Additionally, this court has a small claims division that deals with general civil claims in which the amount of money in dispute is below $10,000. Osage County municipal courts have limited jurisdiction and only handle minor offenses, including traffic cases, parking, misdemeanors, and municipal ordinance violations.
