Logan County

Logan County was created by the Oklahoma Organic Act in 1890 and named after John Logan, a former United States Senator. The county covers a land area of approximately 744 square miles in central Oklahoma and it is home to 49,919 people. Oklahoma's first capital city, the City of Guthrie, serves the county seat.

Logan County has two trial courts, including the District and Municipal Courts. The District Court, which is Logan County's general jurisdiction court, hears and decides all civil and criminal cases. It features a Criminal Division that presides over felony cases, misdemeanors, pre-trial motions, and other preliminary hearings. On the other hand, the District Court's Civil Division usually resolves tort claims, class action cases, personal injury lawsuits, contract breaches, and other financial disputes.

Other divisions of the District Court in Logan County include the Family, Probate, and Juvenile Divisions. These court divisions oversee legal matters involving family law cases, probates, and juveniles in the county. Small claims lawsuits such as replevin, eviction disputes, and other monetary claims for up to $10,000 are handled by the District Court. Logan County's Municipal Courts in Guthrie and other cities hear traffic offenses and ordinance violations that occur in their cities.

Logan County court records are files or materials collected by the Court Clerk. They contain details of legal proceedings in the District Court, including court dates, case filings, parties' names, case outcomes, and any penalties or fines issued. Examples of court records maintained by the Court Clerk include:
