Canadian County

Named for the Canadian River, Canadian County occupies a land area of approximately 897 square miles in Oklahoma. It ranks as Oklahoma's fourth most populous county, having a population of 156,681 people. Canadian County is known for big cities like Yukon and El Reno, which is the county seat.

The Canadian County justice branch comprises a District Court and several Municipal Courts. The District Court in Canadian County is organized into several divisions according to case types. Felonies, misdemeanors, pretrial hearings, and motion hearings are within the jurisdiction of the Criminal Division. On the other hand, the Civil Division handles contract breaches, personal injury lawsuits, and other monetary disputes. Canadian County's District Court also has a Family, Probate, and Juvenile division that resolves family law cases, probate matters, and juvenile cases, respectively. The county also has Municipal Courts located in El Reno, Yukon, and Piedmont. These courts hear traffic offenses and ordinance violations that occur in their cities.
