Newark Municipal Court is a municipal court of limited jurisdiction serving the City of Newark, New Jersey. The court also conducts preliminary proceedings in indictable criminal cases occurring in Newark, including taking complaints, determining probable cause, issuing warrants or summonses, setting bail, and holding first appearances, before those cases are sent to the Essex County Superior Court. About / Additional Info: The Newark Municipal Court has six courtrooms.  Court sessions take place five days a week. Morning sessions are scheduled at 8:30am and 11:30am, afternoon sessions begin at 4:00pm.
