St. Charles County
St. Charles County was established in 1812 and named for Charles Borromeo. It covers a total mass spanning 560.5 miles squared. This mass gives the county the 65th largest county in Missouri by total area. St. Charles serves as the county seat and has an estimated 405,262 citizens.
The St. Charles County judicial system comprises a Circuit Court and 11 Municipal Courts. The County Circuit Court has broad authority over criminal and civil cases. It is structured into divisions according to case types, including Associate Circuit, Probate Court, Small Claims Court, Traffic Court, and Family Court. The St. Charles Municipal Courts are also divisions of the County Circuit Court. They have limited authority to handle cases related to municipal code violations as well as issues with some local ordinances such as traffic infractions, misdemeanors, and park citations.

St. Charles County court records may be accessed by case number, hearing date, and party name. The clerk charges $0.25 per page for copies of these records and $1.50 for certification. In cases involving sealed or restricted records, only the parties involved or their attorneys are permitted to obtain a copy in person with proof of identity.
