Christian County
Christian County was carved from parts of Taney, Webster, and Greene Counties on March 8, 1859. It was named for Colonel William Christian, a prominent frontiersman, and is home to over 90,000 people. The county has a predominantly white racial composition with smaller percentages of African American, Hispanic, and Asian populations.
The Circuit Court and Municipal Courts are the only courts in the Christian County court system. The Christian County Circuit Court is made up of Circuit Divisions I and II as well as Associate Circuit Divisions III and IV. It is the primary trial court with general jurisdiction over almost all civil and criminal cases. Typically, it hears legal matters involving felonies, traffic violations, misdemeanors, juvenile delinquency, estate administration, wills, divorce, child support, civil claims involving amounts less than $25,000, and small claims for amounts up to $5,000.
The Christian Municipal Courts provide the county residents with a place to obtain an impartial and fair trial on any alleged violation of city ordinance. They handle initial hearings for certain criminal cases, municipal ordinance violations, traffic violations, and misdemeanor offenses.
All court records created within Christian County are in the safekeeping of the Circuit Clerk. These records usually consist of judgments and orders, docket entries, case filings, and transcripts. Furthermore, court records are accessible to the public both in the courthouse and online.
Through the Case.net portal, the state's online database for case information, the public can view, download, and print public case documents filed on and after July 1, 2023.
