Eagle County
Eagle County was created in 1883 by the Colorado Legislature from parts of Summit County. It has a land area of about 1,684.5 square miles and an estimated population of 55,650. The government seat is the Town of Eagle.
Eagle County's court structure consists of a District Court, a County Court, and Municipal Courts. The District Court handles criminal, civil, domestic relations, juvenile, probate, and mental health cases. It hears appeals from the County Court and Municipal Courts. It has problem-solving courts like an Adult Drug Court and a DWI Court. The County Court conducts preliminary hearings of felonies and deals with misdemeanors, traffic infractions, small claims (less than $7,500), and civil cases under $25,000. Municipal Courts located in some cities deal with traffic infractions and ordinance violations.
Eagle County public court records include documents, testimonies, hearings, exhibits, transcripts, dockets, and judgments received and created in the court sessions. The Eagle County Clerk of Courts preserves and provides public access to court records, which include:
- Civil records
- Criminal records
- Traffic records
