Lonoke County
Formed in 1873 and located in central Arkansas, Lonoke County spans a total area of about 802.43 square miles. The county is the only one with a county seat in Arkansas. Lonoke County got its name from a massive red "lone oak" tree that stood as a landmark on the site of the present county seat, the City of Lonoke. At least 74,000 people call the county home.
Lonoke County residents are served by the Arkansas 23rd Judicial Circuit. The Lonoke County Circuit comprises the following courts:
- Criminal Court
- Civil Court
- Juvenile Court
- Domestic Relations Court
The county's Criminal Court handles all felony cases filed by the county prosecutors' office and all appeals from District Courts. On the other hand, the Civil Court hears matters relating to malpractice, fraud, unlawful detainer, negligence, election, foreclosure, injunctions, and property forfeiture. The Juvenile Court of the Lonoke County Circuit presides over cases relating to Family In Need of Services (FINS), neglect, delinquency, and dependency issues.
