Natrona County
With a population of 79,955, Natrona County is the second most populous county in Wyoming. It encompasses 5,376 square miles, making it the fifth-largest county by land area in the state. The county seat, Casper, hosts the only college located in the county.
The Circuit Court, District Court, and Municipal Courts make up the Natrona County judicial system. The Natrona Circuit Court is responsible for all misdemeanor cases, civil lawsuits in which the money sought does not exceed $50,000, family law matters, and forcible entry and detainer cases.
The Natrona District Court has general jurisdiction over several types of cases, including all felonies, juvenile cases, probate matters, property disputes, contract disputes, and civil claims for amounts exceeding $50,000. Municipal Courts in Natrona County focus primarily on the violation of municipal ordinances. Within city limits, these courts also address traffic offenses and misdemeanor cases punishable by fine only.
The Clerk of the District Court receives and maintains documents and information related to judicial proceedings conducted in the District Court. Most court records are accessible to the public unless restricted by a court order or administrative rule. Examples of court records exempt from public inspection include juvenile and adoption records.
Currently, both Circuit and District Courts in Natrona County do not provide remote access to their records; however, interested parties may visit the courthouse during regular business hours in order to use public access terminals located within the Natrona County courthouse.
