Dunn County has two trial courts, including the Circuit and Municipal Courts. As the county's general jurisdiction court, the Circuit Court in Dunn County presides over all major criminal and civil court proceedings. The apex court features several subject-specific divisions, including criminal, civil, and family law divisions. Felonies, misdemeanors, traffic Infractions, and preliminary hearings are handled at the criminal division. On the other hand, the court's civil department hears contract disputes, personal injury claims, property disputes, and small claims matters. Court cases involving divorces, juvenile delinquencies, paternity disputes, and child custody cases are exclusive to the family division of the Circuit Court. The Municipal Courts handle minor criminal and civil cases such as traffic offenses, municipal ordinance violations, and certain small claims disputes.
