Augusta County

Augusta County is the second largest county in Virginia by total area. It was founded in 1738 from Orange County. It spans 971 square miles and was later organized in 1745. Augusta County's seat is in Staunton. It was named for Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. It has a population of over 77,487 people.
