Harrison County
Located in the eastern part of Texas, Harrison County was formed from Shelby County in 1839 and organized in 1842. It was named after Jonas Harrison, a Texas revolutionary. As of the 2020 census, 68,839 people lived in the county. Harrison County has 900 square miles of land, and 16 square miles of water bodies.
The Harrison County court system comprises the following:
- Harrison County Constitutional Court - has jurisdiction over small claims civil cases under $10,000, probate matters, some misdemeanors, and juvenile matters
- Harrison County Court at Law - shares jurisdiction with the Justice of the Peace Court. It hears civil cases, class A or B misdemeanors, and protective orders
- Harrison County Justice of the Peace - there are four Justice of the Peace precincts in Harrison County, named Precincts 1 to 4. They hear traffic infractions and misdemeanors. They can also conduct preliminary felony hearings
- Harrison County municipal courts handle preliminary hearings for felony cases and misdemeanors that cannot be penalized with imprisonment, including municipal ordinance violations and traffic infractions. The three municipal courts in Harrison County are in Hallsville, Marshall, and Waskom
- Harrison County's 71st District Court is the highest court in the county, and it handles cases beyond the jurisdiction of the county's other courts. It hears criminal, civil, and domestic relations cases

The Harrison County Clerk maintains public court records from the Constitutional, County at Law, and Justice of Peace courts. The Harrison County District Court Clerk keeps public court records from the District Court. Similarly, each municipal court clerk is responsible for records generated in their court.
