Union County
Founded in 1813, Union County was named for the Federal Union of the United States. It is nestled along the Susquehanna River, boasting a population of 42,042. The county is recognized as the fourth-smallest county by area, covering a total of 318 square miles.
The Union County court system is part of the 17th Judicial District of Pennsylvania and consists of a Court of Common Pleas and two Magisterial District Courts. As a trial court of general jurisdiction, the Union County Court of Common Pleas hears all civil and criminal cases, including child custody matters, child and spousal support, juvenile delinquency cases, Orphans' Court matters, and juvenile dependency cases.
The Magisterial District Courts in Union County have limited jurisdiction, although they serve as the first level of contact with the court system. In criminal law, these courts conduct preliminary hearings in criminal cases, decide traffic violation cases, and issue search and arrest warrants. Additionally, they address small claims cases in which the disputed amount does not exceed $12,000, evictions, and other minor civil actions.

These records do not include sealed or confidential records, nor records submitted with a Confidential Document Form. Depending on the volume of a request, members of the public may submit an oral or written request to review or obtain copies of court records at the Clerk's Office. This office is located at 103 S. Second Street, Lewisburg, PA 17837, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
