Perry County

Perry County began in the year 1820 and was named to honor Oliver Hazard Perry, a man known for being a hero from the War of 1812. The county is home to more than 45,000 people and covers 551.45 square miles. Its government seat is New Bloomfield.

Residents of Perry County are served by a Court of Common Pleas and a Magisterial District Court. The Court of Common Pleas handles a wide range of criminal and civil cases, including felonies, juvenile matters, probate, adoptions, and domestic relations cases. It also has the authority to review the decisions of certain administrative agencies.

The Magisterial District Courts exercise limited jurisdiction over criminal and civil cases. Some criminal cases heard by this court are misdemeanors, preliminary hearings, DUI cases, summary offenses, and violations of ordinances. Additionally, the Magisterial District Court hears civil cases such as landlord-tenant disputes and small claims.

Perry County public court records are official documents and materials about court proceedings within the county. Examples of such records are dockets, transcripts, motions, pleadings, and court judgments. The Perry County Clerk of Courts and Prothonotary's Office serves as the official custodian of court records in Perry County.
