Beaver County

Beaver County is found in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and was carved out from sections of Allegheny and Washington Counties. Named for the Beaver River, it has Beaver as its county seat and Aliquippa as its largest city. Beaver County has 165,631 people residing in it.

Beaver County has a trial court system comprising the Court of Common Pleas and magisterial district courts. The Beaver County Court of Common Pleas generally adjudicates felonies and lesser offenses, along with zero-financial limit civil claims. Cases relating to domestic relations, juvenile issues, adoptions, arbitration reviews, and certain administrative agency decision appeals also fall within its jurisdiction. The Orphans' Court, a division of the common pleas court, handles trusts, wills, decedents' estates' administration, guardianships, and parental rights terminations. In addition, it has appellate jurisdiction over judgments originating from the county's magisterial courts.

In contrast, the Beaver County Magisterial District Courts oversee cases including initial felony hearings, bail hearing proceedings, summary offenses, some third-degree misdemeanors, and certain ordinance violations. They also hear civil cases involving monetary amounts in dispute with specific financial limits and landlord-tenant matters.

Beaver County court records refer to legal documents generated during various case proceedings and maintained as public records. These records serve as an important reference for setting legal precedence for future court cases, and they typically contain the following:

  • Charges
  • Case parties' details
  • Judgments
  • Minute entry of proceedings
  • Registrar's certificates
  • Decrees

Typical Beaver County court records that are created from different court case proceedings include:

  • Criminal records
  • Civil records
  • Probate records
  • Juvenile records

The Beaver County Clerk of Courts is the official custodian of court records for the Court of Common Pleas and the magisterial district courts.
