Pickaway County
Pickaway County was created in 1810 by an Act of the General Assembly of Ohio from portions of Fairfield, Franklin, and Ross Counties. It has an estimated population of 58,809 and a land area of about 501.2 square miles. The county seat is Circleville.
Pickaway County's court structure comprises a Common Pleas Court, a Municipal Court, and Mayors' Courts. The Common Pleas Court has four divisions: General, Domestic Relations, Juvenile, and Probate Divisions. The General and Domestic Relations Divisions have original jurisdiction over felony, civil cases in which the amount in controversy is more than $15,000, and cases involving real estate except eviction matters, divorce, and family-related matters. The General Division also hears appeals from administrative agencies. The Juvenile and Probate Court handles delinquency, abuse, child support, custody, neglect of minors, and probate cases. Furthermore, Circleville Municipal Court handles misdemeanors, traffic infractions, small claims (less than $3,000), and civil cases with total damages of less than $15,000. The Mayor's Court presides over traffic infractions and ordinance violations.
Pickaway County public court records include documents, motions, orders, pleadings, dockets, judgments, and court proceedings. The Pickaway County Clerk of Courts provides public access to official court records filed and maintained in their office, including:
- Civil records
- Criminal records
- Traffic records
- Probate records
Under Section 149.43(A) of the Ohio Revised Code, most court records are accessible to the public unless sealed by the courts. To access the Common Pleas Court records, requests may be made by email, fax, mail, or in-person to the clerk's office at:
