Lawrence County
Lawrence County was established in 1816 from portions of Galia and Scioto Counties. It has a land area of about 453.4 square miles and an estimated population of 57,994. The county seat is the City of Ironton.
Lawrence County's courts include a Court of Common Pleas, Municipal Courts, and Mayor's Courts. The Court of Common Pleas has jurisdiction over felony, civil, domestic relations, juvenile, mental health, and probate cases. The court is organized into four divisions: General Division, Domestic Division, Juvenile Division, and Probate Division. It hears appeals from the Municipal and Mayor's Courts as well as administrative agencies. The Ironton Municipal Court and Lawrence County Municipal Court conduct preliminary hearings for felonies and handle misdemeanors, small claims (under $6,000), traffic infractions, ordinance violations, and civil cases over $15,000. Drug Court and Drug-Reentry Court. There are specialized divisions within the court system designed to address particular types of offenses and groups of offenders, such as the Drug Court and Drug-Re-entry Court. The Mayor's Courts address traffic infractions and ordinance violations.

Interested individuals may need to visit the clerks of the Municipal Courts to access court records. Certified copies of Municipal Courts records cost a $2 fee per page. They may also search Municipal Court records and dockets in Ironton and Lawrence online through the respective portals.
