Hocking County
Named after the Hocking River and established on March 1, 1818, Hocking County is home to over 28,000 Ohioans and covers about 421 square miles. It is also an economically booming county, being home to nearly 500 businesses.
The Hocking County trial system comprises the Court of Common Pleas and the Municipal Court. The Court of Common Pleas has two divisions - the General and Domestic Relations Division and the Juvenile/Probate Division.
The General and Domestic Relations Division generally hears civil cases exceeding $15,000, criminal cases, divorces, and child custody matters. The Juvenile/Probate Division handles offenses involving minors, adoptions, and estate-related matters. The Municipal Court hears civil cases with a claim of $15,000 or less, traffic offenses, misdemeanors, small claims, and other minor offenses.
The records and documents from the proceedings of the Court of Common Pleas or Municipal Court constitute the Hocking County public court records. They include court filings, applications, processes, orders, and judgments.
