Belmont County
Belmont County was established by the Northwest Territorial legislature on September 7, 1801 and covers 541.27 square miles. It has over 65,000 inhabitants, 91.7% of whom are caucasian. The county’s name comes from the french phrase “beautiful mountainâ€Â.
As a court of general jurisdiction, the Belmont County Common Pleas Court has the authority to preside over all civil and criminal cases.
