Elko County
Elko County was established in 1869 by an Act of the Nevada Legislature. It has a land area of about 17,173.3 square miles, making it the fourth largest county in the United States, and an estimated population of 53,600. Its county seat is the City of Elko.
The Elko County Courts system comprises a District Court, Justice, and Municipal Courts. The District Court handles felonies, probate, domestic relations, mental health, adoptions, juvenile, and civil cases in which the amount in contention is more than $15,000. It hears appeals from the administrative agencies and Justice and Municipal Courts. The court is divided into Department 1, Department 2, and Department 3. It has a Family Court and specialty courts that break the cycle of drugs and substance addiction that influence adult criminal, juvenile delinquent behavior, or parental abuse of children. These include a Drug Court and a DUI Court. The Justice and Municipal Courts are courts of limited jurisdiction that provide judicial services to municipalities. They conduct preliminary hearings of felony cases and deal with misdemeanors, traffic infractions, ordinance violations, small claims (less than $10,000), and civil cases with claims less than $15,000.

According to the Fourth Judicial District Court Fee Schedule, a court record page costs $0.50, $3 for certified documents, and $6 for exemplified documents. The public may access the records of the Justice and Municipal Courts by visiting the courthouses.
