Burlington County is located in the southern part of the state and spans about 3.75 square miles, making it New Jersey's largest county by land mass. As of 2022, the population of Burlington County was approximately 9,833. The county is known for its rich blend of rural landscapes, suburban areas, and proximity to Philadelphia, with Mount Holly serving as the county seat. Burlington County's court system is part of the New Jersey Judiciary. It operates a court system comprising Superior Courts, Surrogate, and Municipal Courts.
The Burlington County Superior Court has general jurisdiction over civil and criminal cases. It handles serious criminal matters, including felonies, civil cases involving amounts exceeding $15,000, probate cases, and appeals from lower courts. Within the Superior Court are specialized divisions like the Family and the Juvenile Court, which handle cases involving child custody, child support, domestic violence matters, and juvenile delinquency.
