Stokes County
Stokes County, located in the Piedmont region of north-central North Carolina, was founded in 1789 from Surry County and named after John Stokes. It spans 449.3 square miles of land and is the 54th largest county in North Carolina by total area, with a population of over 44,520 people. Danbury is the county's administrative hub.
