Hoke County

Hoke County was created in 1911 by the North Carolina General Assembly from portions of Cumberland and Robeson Counties. It covers approximately 390.2 square miles and is home to an estimated population of 52,612 residents. The county seat is Raeford, the largest city.

The Hoke County court system comprises a Superior Court and a District Court. The Superior Court handles felony, adoption, probate, and civil cases in which the amount in contention is more than $25,000. It hears appeals related to misdemeanors and infractions from the District Court and administrative agencies. The District Court conducts preliminary hearings for felonies and family law cases. It also deals with misdemeanors, juvenile, mental health, traffic infractions, ordinance violations, magistrate matters, and civil cases less than $25,000. It also has a magistrate who sets bail, issues arrest warrants, and deals with small claim cases in which the amount in contention is less than $10,000.

Under Chapter 7A-308 of the North Carolina General Statutes, it costs $3 per page for certified copies, and exemplifying records cost $10.
