Huron County

Huron County, Michigan, was created in 1840 and organized in 1859. It was named after one of the five great lakes of North America, Lake Huron. It has a total area of 2,137 square miles. As of the 2020 U.S. census, it had a population of 31,407. Bad Axe is its county seat and largest city.

The judicial system in Huron County comprises circuit, district, and probate courts. The 52nd Judicial Circuit Court hears all felonies, all civil cases with claims exceeding $25,000, and misdemeanors with a minimum punishment of 12 months in prison.
