Androscoggin County

Androscoggin County was named for the Androscoggin people. It was created on March 18, 1854. Its government seat is located in Auburn, and its most populous city is Lewiston. It measures 497 square miles and a population of over 111,139 lives in it.

A Superior Court, Probate Court, and one District Court serve the people of Androscoggin County. The Superior Court holds jury trials for civil and criminal cases. It handles legal separation, annulments, property disputes, and other family-related disputes. The Probate Court handles legal cases that involve wills, name changes, and guardianship. Part of the functions of the District Court are protection from abuse, handling moving violations, processing traffic tickets, delinquency cases, and preliminary hearings for felony charges.

To access records not found online, you may visit during regular courthouse business hours.
