Lafourche County

Located in the southern part of Louisiana, Lafourche Parish was created in 1807 and named for the Bayou Lafourche. It has a total area of 1,474 square miles, out of which 406 square miles (28%) is water. According to the 2020 US census, 97,557 people live in the parish. Its seat of government is in Thibodaux, its largest city.

The Lafourche Parish court system comprises District, Justice of the Peace, City, and Mayor's Courts. Golden Meadow Mayor's Court and Lockport Mayor's Court are the two mayor's courts in Lafourche Parish. These courts hear traffic offenses and municipal ordinance violations.
