Dearborn County
Created in 1803, Dearborn County was formed from parts of Hamilton County, Ohio, and was named after Henry Dearborn, a U.S. Secretary of War. Its government seat and largest city is Lawrenceburg. Dearborn County has a land area of 305.09 square miles and a population of over 50,000 people.
Dearborn County is home to a Circuit Court, two Superior Courts, and a City Court. Located in Lawrenceburg, the Circuit Court enjoys complete jurisdiction covering every probate matter, including guardianships, trusts, adoptions, and estate-related cases. The Circuit Court exercises jurisdiction over major felony cases and civil claims in which the amount of money in dispute is above $10,000. Other cases handled by this court are juvenile matters, child custody and support, divorce, and domestic relations cases.
