Livingston County
Livingston Parish was split from St. Helen Parish on February 10, 1832. As of 2023, the county was home to 41,642 families with a total population of 156,907. It is situated within the Baton Rouge metropolitan statistical area and was part of the Spanish Empire, distinguishing it from the rest of Louisiana, which was part of the French Empire.
Livingston Parish falls under the jurisdiction of the 21st Judicial District of Louisiana, which conducts trials for both civil and criminal cases. Due to its general jurisdiction, it has the authority to handle several types of cases, including felonies, misdemeanors, torts, child abuse and neglect, contract disputes, mental health issues, and traffic violations.
