Champaign County
As the 10th largest county in Illinois, Champaign County has an estimated population of 208, 861 inhabitants. It was established on February 20, 1833 and it covers a total area of 988 square miles. The predominant ethnic groups in the county are White (caucasian), African American, and Asian.
The Champaign County Circuit Court is part of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. All criminal and civil cases are handled by the Circuit Court with the exception of cases exclusively heard by the Illinois Supreme Court and the Court of Claims.
In addition, the Circuit Court is organized into divisions based on case type. These divisions handle probate, juvenile, domestic relations, and traffic cases. Furthermore, the court shares jurisdiction with the Supreme Court over cases related to mandamus prohibition, revenue, and habeas corpus.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court is the custodian of all court records available in Champaign County. It is the duty of the Clerk to provide assistance with the examination and copying of court records available to the public. However, the Office of the Clerk cannot provide records pertaining to adoption, neglect, or juvenile abuse without a court order authorizing such access.

You can access and obtain copies of court records by completing either the Criminal Request Form or the Civil Request Form on the website of the Champaign County Circuit Court Clerk. There is a $10 fee for each year searched, a fee of $2 for the first page, and 50 cents for subsequent pages. Alternatively, you can search for specific case information by using the court case information tool. To view court records in person, the file viewing room in the Clerk's Office is available for accessing paper documents, digital files, and older case records.
