Bartow County

Bartow County spans about 470 square miles in the northwestern part of Georgia and was created in 1832 from Cherokee lands. The county is situated 45 miles north of Atlanta, with Cartersville acting as its administrative center. As of July 2023, the population of Bartow County was estimated to be 115,041.

The Bartow County court system includes five classes of trial-level courts, such as Superior Court, Juvenile Court, Probate Court, Magistrate Court, and Municipal Courts. The Municipal Courts in Adairsville, Cartersville, Euharlee, Emerson, Kingston, and White are courts with limited jurisdiction, handling certain misdemeanors, criminal preliminary, traffic cases, and ordinance violations. In the Bartow Magistrate Court, the magistrate judges address civil claims not exceeding $15,000, landlord-tenant disputes, personal property foreclosures, and garnishments.

The Juvenile Court handles law actions involving deprived or delinquent juveniles, termination of parental rights, child custody, and juvenile traffic offenses, while the Probate Court has exclusive jurisdiction in the probate of wills, appointment of guardians for incapacitated persons, and administration of estates for deceased persons.

The Bartow Superior Court is the highest court in the trial court system with general jurisdiction over a wide range of legal matters. It is the only court that can hold hearings for felony criminal matters, divorce cases, adoption cases, matters of equity, and title-to-land disputes.

Bartow County public court records are documents filed in relation to cases heard in the county's court system, including civil, criminal, traffic, probate, and family cases. The Clerks of individual courts maintain these records and provide access, except for those sealed by court rule or state law.

The first step to conducting a court case search physically is to identify the court where the case was filed. Then, you may visit the Clerk's Office with adequate information to locate the appropriate court files. If your case was filed in the Superior Court, you may conduct a case search for the records online through the PeachCourt website. In addition, you may request and purchase regular or certified copies of court records through the GSCCCA eCertification portal.
