Located in Central Florida and covering a land area of 903 square miles, Orange County is inhabited by over 1.37 million people. With 13 cities and towns within its boundaries, it is considered the most populated county in Central Florida, and the county seat is Orlando.
Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit Court presides over Orange County. It operates and serves county residents and businesses through the court's criminal, civil, business, domestic, traffic, probate, juvenile, and problem-solving divisions. While the Criminal County Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor criminal cases and criminal traffic cases, the Criminal Circuit Court hears appeals of all criminal felonies from the County Courts. The Civil County Court oversees legal matters in which the controversy does not exceed $8,000 (small claims), $50,000, and most tenant/landlord actions of law.
