Citrus County
Citrus County, located along the Gulf Coast, is known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities, including freshwater springs and coastal areas. The county was established in 1887 and has a land area of approximately 581.9 square miles. As of 2022, Citrus County had a population of about 155,173 people, with Inverness serving as the county seat.
The Citrus County Court system consists of a Circuit Court and a County Court. The Circuit Court is a trial court of general jurisdiction, tasked with handling most criminal offenses, such as felonies and misdemeanors, probate matters involving settlement of decedent's estates, granting of wills, and guardianships. The court employs case management techniques to resolve domestic issues, including dependency, delinquency, and family disputes.
