Hartford County
Hartford County, established in 1666, was one of the four original counties in Connecticut. It is located in the north-central part of the state and has a land area of 735 square miles, making it the second-largest county by land area in Connecticut. However, there are no county-level governments in Connecticut, as county governments were abolished in the state in 1960. The City of Hartford, the state capital, is the most populous city in the county and was the county seat until 1960. As of the 2020 census, 899,498 people lived in Hartford County.
