Tuolumne County
Tuolumne County was formed in 1850 by the California Legislature. It has a land area of about 2,220.9 square miles and an estimated population of 54,993. The county seat is the City of Sonora.
Tuolumne County has a unified court system comprising a Superior Court. The Superior Court is structured into various divisions based on different case types. The court has jurisdiction over civil, felony, traffic infractions, ordinance violations, family law, juvenile, and probate cases. It has a Small Claims Court that hears civil cases limited to disputes up to $5,000 for a business or $7,500 for an individual. It also has problem-solving courts that are trauma-focused and address substance abuse among offenders. These include CARE Court, Adult Drug Court, and Dependency Drug Court.

It costs $0.50 per page and an additional $40.00 to obtain a certified copy of a Tuolumne County court record. The public may request a criminal record search by mailing a completed Request for Criminal Record Search with the appropriate fee to the clerk's office. The court record search fee is $15 per name for searches taking longer than 10 minutes.
