Siskiyou County
Siskiyou County was established in 1852 and named after the Siskiyou mountain range. It is located in the northern part of the state (adjacent to the Oregon border) and is California's fifth-largest county by area. As of July 2023, Siskiyou County had an estimated population of 42,905.
Siskiyou County's trial court system comprises a unified Superior Court that handles all legal cases in the county through five key divisions: Civil, Criminal, Family Law, Small Claims, and Traffic. The Civil Division handles all civil law matters, which include civil litigations (like personal injury claims and contract disputes), juvenile cases, probate matters, and landlord/tenant matters. The Criminal Division has jurisdiction over felonies, misdemeanors, and infractions, while the Family Law Division hears family-related and domestic relations issues, such as divorces, separation, child support matters, adoptions, and guardianships. The Small Claims Division handles civil matters that do not involve more than $10,000, while the Traffic Division handles California Vehicle Code and local traffic ordinance violations. Siskiyou County is also home to several Collaborative Justice Courts, which offer intensive, closely monitored rehabilitation programs as an alternative to traditional incarceration for some offenders.
Siskiyou County public court records are documents created during or related to court proceedings in the county. The Siskiyou County Superior Court Clerk's Office is responsible for managing these records, which include (but are not limited to) sworn affidavits, protective orders, trial transcripts, juror interviews, subpoenas, summonses, motions, verdicts, settlement agreements, and judgments. This office is also charged with making these court records available to the public on request, per California Rules of Court 2.400 â 2.573.
As such, the Siskiyou County Superior Court provides an online platform for searching for and viewing information on cases handled in the county. However, it should be noted that case information available via this platform is not considered an official court record. To obtain an official Siskiyou County court record, you must either visit the court and request the specific documents in person or submit a Request for Records/Search/Copies Form via mail. You will be charged a copy fee of 50 cents per page and a $15 search fee for searches that take longer than 10 minutes. Be aware that additional charges may apply if you require certified or exemplified copies of the requested records.
